The depth for each spot can vary quite a bit. If your bobber is more than 5 ft from the shore or a protruding rock or weed bed, chances are the water is too deep there for float fishing. Focus on the areas along the shoreline and around the edges of weed beds. I find the pegs from the bridge all the way around to the waterfall are the most productive for bait fishing. Tea bagging the same hole over and over will net fewer fish, and prevent you from learning the water. Once you've worked all the available shoreline from a certain peg, move to the next peg and start over. Once you've caught 1-2 fish in one little nook, cast somewhere else. Some of these little crannies hold every species in the lake. Nearly every nook and cranny along the shoreline holds at least one species of fish during those hours. I usually float fish exclusively from 5-7 am and 7-9 pm, and often get 50 lbs or more of fish that way. Had I been reeling without a clean drag he could have come close to spooling my 435ft of line. My biggest alli gar to date is 77.4lbs.thing was never able to get to more than 200ft or so. Of course I tried it ingame once I got to the big fishes, and it works WONDERS. This is the ONLY way to reel stuff in of this caliber. I have spent a better part of my adult life fishing for shark, sailfish, and other ocean bound fishes of 100lbs+.
